About Our Pack

The Pack

We are part of the Occoneechee Council (http://ocscouts.org/Contact), Crosswinds District.  We meet on Wednesday nights from 7pm to 8pm at Genesis United Methodist Church.

The Dens

Pack 152 has approximately 50 scouts in Tiger, Wolf, Bear, and Webelos Dens, serving boys in first through fifth grades.

Den meetings are held weekly throughout the traditional school year.  Dens are led by a Den Leader, Assistant Den Leader, and a parent assigned to that week's meeting plan.  Scouts are expected to attend meetings in uniform (we suggest a t-shirt worn beneath the dress uniform shirt) and with their Scout Handbook to record the week’s Achievements and Electives.  We uphold the scouting philosophy of keeping it fun and safe to maintain an environment where Cubs can learn and grow.

The Pack Activities

For Scouts and their families, Pack 152 has monthly hikes, monthly pack meetings, and year-round events.  Registration for events is web-based and allows us to effectively plan resources prior to an event.  Our typical calendar includes the following events:

January - Pinewood Derby

February - Blue and Gold Banquet

March - Spring camp-out

April - Adopt a Highway Service Project and the Council Cuboree

May - Pack/Church yard sale

June - Durham Bulls Scout Night

July - Raingutter Regatta

August - Take Me Fishing

September - Fall camp-out and Popcorn sale kick-off

October - Family Fun Night and Fall Service Project

November/December - Cary Holiday Parade and Holiday Pack meeting

Getting Started

We'd like every scout to have a navy blue (Tigers, Wolf, Bear) or khaki (Webelos) uniform shirt and rank-specific Scout handbook.   Council and Pack patches are provided upon payment of Registration and dues.   Scout Shop location and hours of operation may be found by accessing the link (http://ocscouts.org/Contact).

Registration and dues are collected upon joining our Pack, then annually when we re-charter in January.  We encourage Scouts to subscribe to Boys Life magazine to enhance their Scouting experience.

Scout Parents

Behind every successful Scout is an active Parent.  Our Parents volunteer on either a weekly (Den Leaders), monthly (Committee Members), or event or task-specific basis (Assistant Cubmasters/Scout Parents).  All parents are encouraged to take Youth Protection Training (https://myscouting.scouting.org/Pages/eLearning.aspx).

Many of our Cubs go on to join area Boy Scout Troops prior to entering 6th grade.  Boy Scout Troop 152 operates out of Genesis United Methodist Church on Tuesday evenings.  Their web-site has additional information.  http://www.troop152cary.org/

Thank you for taking the time to read about our Pack!

We have tried to give a good overview of what we do in Pack 152, but if at any time you want more information, contact me at cubmaster@cubscoutpack152.org.  Cub Scouting is a great program and talking to people who are interested in Scouting and Pack 152 is always fun!

Come on down to the next meeting and check it out! I look forward to talking with you!
